Job Description
DGS has an opportunity for a dynamic IT professional with a history of effective and varied customer and device support in a fast-paced team environment.
This position serves as technical coordinator for system support functions that involve the design, installation, implementation, utilization and support of the Department of General Services agency managed server environment at the Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services facility. It also assists in the daily oversite and function of the agency managed infrastructure in the facility, including firewalls, switches, instrumentation, PCs, printers and cabling.
Responsibilities include:
* Assist in the management of day-to-day DCLS agency managed environment, including network, server and other infrastructure operations
* Provide support for agency managed hardware
* Coordinates production modifications with internal, other agency and external entities.
* Provide technical coordination for campus and BAS network installation and support of infrastructure components.
* Provide technical guidance to DGS managed projects with regard to infrastructure components, ensuring that industry standards and best practices are met
* Works with customers in the design, specification, and implementation of new or enhanced IT services.
* Participate in weekend on-call rotation
## Minimum Qualifications
Technical Skills
* Demonstrated experience with server administration, monitoring tools, and backup and recovery procedures.
* Proven ability to design and install end-user and server systems, including hardware selection, software selection, and integration.
* Experience supporting/managing Active Directory, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Hyper-V/VM Ware, Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
* Expert knowledge of server hardware and life cycles
* Ability to effectively troubleshoot, diagnosis, and implement solutions for reported hardware and software issues.
* Strong knowledge of various data storage solutions. Experience with Storage Area Networks or Network Filers, a plus.
* Experience with Backup, AV, Patch Management and other server based software required
* Experience with firewalls, switches, VPN, LAN/WAN, IP telephony, Wireless LAN technologies, and IPSec.
* Knowledge of Nortel/Avaya and/or Cisco router configuration is a plus.
* Experience installing, validating, upgrading, and patching software and hardware components, including 3rd party vendor applications.
* Scripting experience, particularly PowerShell scripting, is a plus
* Enhanced understanding of network security, and the systems that support network monitoring and management.
* Experience with MS Office tools such as MS Word, Excel, Visio and Project. Must be able to prepare technical documentation using these and other tools.
* Industry certifications a plus

* Able to work flexible hours and outside of normal work schedule occasionally.
* Be able to independently function as technical representative and deliver server requirements for infrastructure and system design projects from initiation through implementation.
* Able to deal confidently with technical matters when dealing with the Partnership, agency staff, and vendors.
* Have excellent verbal and written skills and able to effectively communicate with all stakeholders within the organization.
* Strong problem solving skills: innovation, collaboration, analysis, inductive reasoning
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
* Must be self-motivated and work in situations with changing priorities.
* Well organized with attention to detail
## Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. MCSE in Server Infrastructure or Desktop Infrastructure. CompTIA A+ and/or Network + or equivalent.
