# Position Information

Job Description
The Virginia Department of Education, Office of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to perform administrative functions to support the mathematics coordinator and specialists of the Office of STEM. Duties include: Reviewing documents and correspondence for format, content, and grammar; reviewing and revising documents to ensure web accessibility per state and federal guidelines; formatting, typing, and proofing complex technical documents and reports by reviewing written drafts, transcribing written notes, and using retrieved and imported computer files; copying, collating, and/or mailing correspondence, publications, brochures, and other materials; maintaining financial records by entering information for items ordered through the State's Electronic Procurement System (eVA); following current division procurement procedures and eVA guidelines and keeping unit coordinator and specialists abreast of the status of orders; assisting with meeting, calendar, and travel arrangements; and meeting requirements related to office efficiency and personal responsibility.
## Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of guidelines governing essential office practices and procedures and the demonstrated ability to effectively apply these when communicating with DOE personnel and the private and public sectors
Knowledge of English usage- grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Demonstrate the ability to manage independently a wide variety of monitoring/tracking responsibilities by organizing, prioritizing, and regulating incoming work
Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with DOE personnel and the private and public sectors
Skilled in keyboarding and use of personal computer and software packages including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat
Demonstrate the ability to perform detailed work using numerical calculations
Demonstrate the ability in researching, collecting, organizing, and formatting data and information for reports
Experience working with agency professionals
Demonstrate the ability to analyze and define problems and apply logical sequence for problem solving
## Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or an equivalent with emphasis on business education and/or completion of business school courses
Secretarial and office experience involving the performance of a variety of clerical/secretarial related duties
## Special Requirements
Successful candidate must pass a criminal background check.
