# Position Information

Job Description
DMV is seeking to fill a Motor Carrier Program Specialist position. The individual will be responsible for providing support to motor carrier programs and assisting motor carrier customers with Intrastate Operating Authority (OA), Unified Carrier Registration System (UCR), and Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT). The incumbent maintains automated files; processes applications for operating authority; issues credentials; reviews and processes MCS 115 (Request for Hire Vehicle Registrations); reviews MCS 116 (Leases) and other lease documents; updates vehicles records with operating authority, lease data and exemptions; processes vehicle renewals; maintains insurance filings; and proofs vehicle records for HVUT. The incumbent is responsible for preparing and reconciling deposits for the motor carrier programs and depositing fees received from other states under the UCR program. The incumbent works with DMV Customer Service Centers, DMV Motor Carrier Service Centers, state and local law enforcement, the courts, the trucking industry, and other agency staff to resolve problem issues.
## Minimum Qualifications
* Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and articulate motor carrier law, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
* Must possess or have the ability to quickly develop a comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to the registration of vehicles and operational requirements of motor carriers
* Ability to interpret and apply this information as service is provided to motor carrier customers
* Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate in a courteous, professional and tactful manner, both orally and in writing
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively, with others in a team environment
* Strong keyboarding skills and skills in the use of a personal computer and automated information systems
* Must possess a strong customer focus
* Ability to adapt to changing work demands and environments; to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and to work under pressure during peak workload periods
* Minimum high school graduate, post high school training/education enabling possession of the above knowledge, skills and abilities
* Ability to organize and prioritize work
* Position required to work Monday-Friday and half day on Saturday with varying hours to meet agency business needs.
## Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of motor carrier operating authority requirements
## Special Requirements

* Possession of a valid driver's license with a negative six points balance or less and no major convictions
