The Virginia Lottery is currently seeking an IT Associate to join our Information Technology Services Department.
The IT Associate will participate in an immersive two-year development program that can lead to a rewarding career at the Virginia Lottery. While in this program, the IT Associate will be paired with a mentor/coach who will provide guidance throughout the development path.
The IT Associate Program enables you to advance your career rapidly by providing the training and resources needed to become successful in an industry-leading Lottery organization. While participating in the program, the IT Associate will have an opportunity to apply and be considered for more advanced roles where they can continue to grow their career.
The IT Associate selected for this role will aspire to sharpen their Software Developer skills. By joining our internal team, the IT Associate will provide daily support and project-based enhancements to our digital properties while ensuring that all development activities across digital platforms support our strategic goals.
The individual in this role will have strong interest in .NET Web development using ASP.NET, MVC, C#, and .NET Web API. In addition, the IT Associate will participate in Front End Development using JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5 and popular front-end libraries such as Angular, Bootstrap, Backbone, or Knockout.
The IT Associate will:
- Participate in requirements gathering
- Develop Code
- Participate in agile rituals
- Support daily website operations including break fix and enhancements to Sitecore and other integrated software platforms
- Monitor and report on site analytics
## Minimum Qualifications
**The person selected for this position will have:**
- Bachelor's degree from a Business or Engineering School with an emphasis in Information Systems or Computer Science
- Knowledge and understanding in the Design and Development of applications using .NET framework
- Knowledge and understanding of Web development using ASP.NET MVC, C#, and .NET Web API
- Knowledge of front-end development using JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5 and popular libraries such as Angular, Bootstrap, Backbone, or Knockout
- Knowledge of Visual Studio
- Understanding of performance/load testing and optimization techniques
- Understanding of the role played by web and social media and the use of web development tools
- Basic web development skills; familiarity with use of content management systems; understanding of web design, architecture and usability
- A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
## Preferred Qualifications
**Preferred qualifications include:**
- Advanced degree in Information Systems or Computer Science
- Web application development experience
