Job Description
Performs general services functions in support of the operations within the James Madison Building under the direction of the Facilities Manager. Follows applicable policies and procedures. Receive, record and manage surplus office equipment, modular furniture, miscellaneous materials and supplies held in inventory in the upper and lower basement on behalf of other offices. Provides guidance as a subject matter expert and assist with the assessment of office space needs and the configuration of office layouts and office moves. Provide backup assistance when needed with the sorting of mail to the various offices within the Madison Building and the processing of outgoing United Parcel Services (UPS) packages from the Madison Building Mailroom on an as needed basis. Provide backup to General Services operations such as processing building access, parking assignments and receptionist desk operations in OPGS. Provides general facilities assistance to James Madison Building to include, but not limited to, moving boxes, maintaining patio umbrellas, coordinating large deliveries and providing special event support on an as needed basis.
## Minimum Qualifications
Experience with inventory management principles. Experience with basic office and furniture layout and design. Experience in independently scheduling, planning and prioritizing. Ability to complete diverse tasks. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, while providing excellent customer service. Experience working with hand tools for minor repairs. Knowledge of mail and distributions procedures. Valid Drivers' License. Basic computer skills.
## Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. Experience working in a warehouse. Experience with State surplus polices & procedures. Experience constructing modular furniture. Experience in creating and tracking an inventory system in Excel (or similar).
## Special Requirements
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds on a daily basis.
