Job Description
**Employment Type**: Full time, Restricted. Position is dependent upon continuation of grant funding through September 30, 2020.
**Job Description**:
The GoodCare College and Career Navigator is responsible for providing coaching support for career pathway guidance including job placement and retention services and career advancement services with the goal of supporting the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG) funded by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The GoodCare College and Career Navigator will also work with the GoodCare Coach on college entry, navigation, retention and completion services for participants. The Navigator will also monitor and document participant progress in the program, write progress reports, and perform other duties as required.
The GoodCare College and Career Navigator will guide the student in the development of written career plans, and selecting and accessing appropriate education and training options in his/her chosen career pathway. The Navigator will identify resources for participants as needed to include tutoring and other services to increase opportunities for success and coordinate services with college admissions, financial aid, advising, academic tutoring offices and academic/workforce development departments and participate in meetings as appropriate. Upon completion of education/training program, the Navigator will provide job placement services. Guidance and support will be provided for up to a period of one year post program completion to assist with career advancement assessment and planning.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES**:
1. Knowledge of instructional design theory, competency models, career pathways and industry credentials.
2. Excellent written, verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills. To help engage, provide support and motivate students.
3. Working knowledge of individual and group advising and referral skills and techniques.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with other agencies, business, and industry.
5. Ability to assist students in developing career goals and specific action plans
6. Ability to function independently with limited supervision.
7. Experience working with grant requirements and preparing required reports.
8. Strong group presentation and facilitation skills.
## Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related education and experience in program or adult education.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively as a team member.
## Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in counseling or related field preferred.
* Experience in counseling or training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services or career development/transition; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
* Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities
