# Position Information

Job Description
The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) is currently seeking an Application Server Administrator within its Internal Technology & Portfolio Management (ITPM) Division. The primary objective of this position is to provide technical server support, with emphasis on IIS for internal VITA web sites and applications in test and production environments and to provide application server administration support. The positon also manages, configures, and secures IIS for web sites/applications and web services; monitors simple to complex multi-tiered business and SOA applications, web sites and Commonwealth portal in the growing VITA system inventory; troubleshoots problems and lead resolution efforts; serves as an intermediary to State Infrastructure Vendor for related problems and questions; assists the development group with all deployment environments including Development, System Test and the Training environments as needed and ensures architectural standards are adhered to and suggest process and policy improvements. This position will also be responsible for modifying and distributing applications from the UAT and Production environments as needed; performing system maintenance and tuning including operating system and application patches; architect and implement disaster recovery plans for critical applications; maintaining detailed server component inventory and adhere to Configuration Management processes and researches and applying security and upgrade patches for server components and applications.
## Minimum Qualifications
Extensive experience with Internet Information Services (IIS) administration; Extensive experience with standard scripting languages such as Powershell and Bash; Extensive experience with Windows 2012R2 and IIS 7.5/8.0; Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing web site security and access rights management; Experience with SFTP, SSL, and security certificate management; knowledge of and experience in security infrastructures as it relates to integration of systems, data encryption techniques, authentication and authorization; Considerable experience in System Administration functions including monitoring, maintenance, auditing, tuning, and configuration documentation; A thorough understanding of enterprise technologies including web technologies, multi-tiered systems, multi-user and multi-tasking operating systems is required; Excellent verbal and writing skills and the ability to develop and present complex material effectively to a variety of audiences are required. High school graduate or equivalent.
## Preferred Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited college w/degree in Information Technology or related field; Advanced degree in Information Technology or related field; Experience deploying .NET web applications; Considerable experience in UNIX, Linux administration.
