# Position Information

Job Description

This 29 hour a week wage position is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Virginia Public Safety Training Center (VPSTC) and DJJ Training Academy, including the staff, students, facility partners, and attendees. Duties include providing course registration and administration, including setting up courses in the Virginia Learning Center (VLC); handling enrollments, rosters, and records (hardcopy and electronic); setting up classrooms and meeting spaces (movement of tables/chairs/podiums/flipcharts) and presentation equipment (computers/ projectors/speakers); assisting the VPSTC Customer Service Coordinator in providing prompt service to customers and clients; assisting with the reproduction and distribution of course materials; monitoring inventory of supplies and submitting lists of items needed; serving as reception for the DJJ Academy and/or the VPSTC Administration; answers phones and provides customer service and/or routes calls accordingly; assisting with any other daily administrative and/or operational needs of a large training center complex.

## Minimum Qualifications
Requires considerable knowledge and ability in office/administrative support; Demonstrated skills in use of Microsoft Office Suite is required; Ability to perform moderate lifting (20-50 lbs.) and movement of furniture (room setup); Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and handle multiple priorities in an average to fast paced environment, as well as assist in the activities of others; Ability to communicate respectfully and provide exceptional customer service, in accordance with Agency and Academy guidelines.
## Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in a training or academic environment is preferred. Experience with Learning Management Systems (such as the VLC) is preferred.
## Special Requirements
Pre-employment drug screen and fingerprint based background investigation are required.
Barrier Crimes
1.Conviction of ALL felony offenses.
2.Conviction of ANY offense relating to Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
3.Conviction of ANY sexually related offenses (including Prostitution and Indecent Exposure).
4.Conviction of ANY misdemeanor possession, sale or distribution of an illegal substance in last 5 years.
5.Conviction of misdemeanor assault and assault & battery offenses in the last 10 years.
6.Conviction of misdemeanor bad check writing, trespassing or reckless driving in the last 3 years.
7.Conviction of ANY crime involving lying, cheating or stealing in the last 3 years.
8.Conviction of misdemeanor DUI or DUI related offense in the last 5 years.
9.Any active jail time or probation or parole supervision at the time of the background investigation.
10.Habitual misdemeanor convictions will be looked at on a case by case basis.
11.Misdemeanor convictions not listed above will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Barriers to Employment
1.Termination for cause from any employment.
2.Dishonorable discharge from any military service (Less than honorable will be reviewed).
3.Any person who has a Child Protective Services founded complaint through the Virginia Department of Social Services.
4.Failure to disclose criminal/driving convictions on state application.
5.Any involvement or association in criminal gang activity.
6.Erratic work record or unfavorable employment reference.
7.Suspended drivers license at time of background investigation.
8.Failure of pre-employment drug screening.
9.Untruthfulness of information on state application.
10.Failure to complete state application or intentional withholding of information on state application.
11.Inability to attend ALL basic skills training days.
